Frequently Asked Questions about working for Melody Care as a Live-in Carer
How long will my interview last?
Interviews last approximately 60 minutes.
What documents do I need to include with my application?
An up to date CV with full employment history from school;
The full name, postal and email address of two referees/testimonials;
Any Health & Social Care Training Certificates which are up to date.
What is a DBS?
This is a certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (previously known as the Criminal Records Bureau – CRB) showing if you have any cautions or convictions. DBS enhanced checks are required for all workers/volunteers that have direct access to, or work directly with children or adults at risk. We require an Adult Only Workforce DBS and are not able to use any which mention Child on the certificate.
What is the DBS update service?
We encourage carers to join the update service. This will give you more freedom to work with other agencies involved in the Adult Health Care Sector as you can take your current DBS to another agency and give permission for other agencies to check your certificate online. Registration costs £13 per year and must be done within 30 days of receiving your DBS certificate. Use this link to join: www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service
Do I need to be able to drive?
No, although some clients do stipulate that they would like a carer who can.
